Siemens telephony saves Walsall businesses money - Telephone The decision by the Walsall Housing Group to upgrade its telephony infrastructure has resulted in savings of around £3,700 per month, it has been claimed.

According to the not-for-profit organisation, the replacement of old branch exchange communications with Siemens OpenScape infrastructure could help it save £567 million over a five-year period.

The company claims it will save a substantial amount of cash from the actual operation of the infrastructure.

A spokesperson for the Walsall Housing Group added: "There are also savings on cabling costs because we no longer have hardwired network links for telephony, which we reckon will save us around £200,000 over five years.

Head of information services Phil Pettifer added that the new network, which supports up to 100Mbps data transfer rates means the company experiences no latency or signal loss as a result.

He concluded: "The best thing about it is the flexibility – it allows us to move people from one location to another at the drop of a hat."

Recently, Norfolk County Council picked BT to implement an upgrade of its voice, data and contact centre technology.

The contract was worth £40.2 million.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19327572-ADNFCR
