Two of the web's biggest names suffered outages today with data centre failure blamed for one of them.
Aspects of the YouTube service were affected for a reason that has still not been revealed, according to TG Daily.
Meanwhile, many Wikipedia users were unable to access it for around an hour and it has been confirmed that the rack cabinets at one of its data centres had overheated, resulting in the servers turning off automatically.
In a statement, Wikimedia, which runs the encyclopaedia website, said: "Due to an overheating problem in our European data centre many of our servers turned off to protect themselves.
"As this impacted all Wikipedia and other projects access from European users, we were forced to move all user traffic to our Florida cluster, for which we have a standard quick failover procedure in place that changes our DNS entries."
Spotify recently suffered a similar fate at one of its data centres in London, meaning users of the music streaming service were deprived of their favourite music for a few hours.
