The adoption of cloud technologies will continue apace during 2012, it has been claimed.
Information Week editor Charles Babcock claimed that adoption rates will continue to rise after the new year.
He suggested that the cloud has become so commonplace that it will not even be considered an exciting development by the majority next year.
There will be a more organised, concerted application of resources to further the cloud's use in conjunction with central IT, Mr Babcock noted.
"Cloud computing will dig even deeper into the enterprise, with hybrid clouds, virtualised clients, and security standards topping the hot trends."
With more businesses investing in the cloud, an increasing number of firms may seek to take advantage of data centre services.
This could create additional demand for data cabinets and network supplies.
