Server rack and server cabinet prices in 14 European countries increased by 8.5 per cent in 2008, it has been claimed.
According to the latest Data Centre Price Tracker survey, the countries that saw the biggest increase in server rack prices were Portugal, with a 30 per cent rise, Denmark, which saw prices climb by 24 per cent and France with a 17 per cent increase.
The research shows there is a large discrepancy in prices across the 14 terrirtories.
Italy is the cheapest place to buy server space – with rack space costs costing just €545 (£482) per month.
Meanwhile, in Denmark costs are on average €1,300 per month.
"Although there is an economic downturn taking place, there is no immediate sign of a slowdown in demand for Data Centre space," Margrit Sessions, managing director of Tariff Consultancy said.
