Red Energy has made some alterations to its data centre to ensure that it is better prepared to deal with any power outages. The Australian reports that during the bushfires of 2007, the company was utilising an inefficient data centre, which could only survive for seven minutes if power was lost.
However, a new project has now been completed, which has included the expansion of its server room and advancements in relation to cooling, server rack enclosures and power distribution units.
The result has led to the progression to over 300 staff and a scalable and reliable power and cooling capacity that has the capability of supporting the business in the future.
Red Energy project transition manager Michael Cattenazzi told the news provider: "We effectively have the monitoring on our help desk and we can see how the systems are behaving and we get the alerts at critical stages giving us notice via SMS."
Meanwhile, Blue Chip recently opened its latest UK premier data centre, which is large enough to hold 600 racks.
