Data centre solutions such as server racks and rack cabinets are extremely important for the IT industry, it has been claimed.
According to Taipei government minister Simon Chang, data centres should be viewed as critical infrastructure.
“Data centres constitute a mass transportation system for the infrastructure of [the] IT industry," he claimed, as reported by the Taipei Times.
"It's like a bus that can carry multiple passengers and generate less carbon emissions compared with individuals driving private cars."
Mr Chang, who previously worked as Google's head of Asia-Pacific hardware operations said such operations play a vital role in integrating data.
They can also help businesses reduce their carbon footprint, which is increasingly important in the green-conscious 21st century world of business.
Last week, Digital Realty Trust announced plans to construct a state of the art data centre on Dublin's Profile Park, the site of Google's new data centre in the Irish capital.
