Networking solutions giant Oracle has indicated that it will continue to sell the portable data centres created by Sun Microsystems, the company it recently bought.
In a speech at Oracle's Next-Generation Data Center event in Palo Alto, California, Senior Sales Consultant Tiffany Strause explained how they will continue to be built, although they will not be part of the firm's regular product line, according to DatacenterDynamics.
The news provider reports that the senior Oracle staffer indicated that the portable data centres, which come equipped with server racks, would be built as orders come in for them.
Portable data centres, which usually come in standard shipping containers, are useful to businesses as they provide rapidly-deployable networking capabilities.
A number of other major firms, including HP and Cisco, also produce portable data centres, while APC recently indicated that it will provide more modular infrastructure products in the furute, having already partnered with other firms.
