Hewlett-Packard (HP) has launched a data centre construction service to its portfolio, in a bid to provide its customers with a single source for a complete data centre project, reports state.
The news may be of interest to firms which use open rack systems in their own data storage facilities.
According to Datacentredynamics, David Dnistan, worldwide director of HP critical facilities services, said that the company's work in developing economies had sown the seeds for the idea.
"What we're finding in the more emerging markets - where the CFI [service] is an excellent fit for us - is we’ll come in and provide a design solution and find that there are really [no] qualified contractors," he explained.
"That was the driving force behind us going in this direction in China. That's where the good part of the opportunities were that kind of forced our hand in that area."
HP already designs data centres, tests and operates such facilities.
