Data centre growth 'to be driven by greater efficiency' - Open Rack Systems  Data centre growth in the Asia Pacific region will be driven by the need for greater efficiency and cloud computing facilities, businesses using open rack systems might be interested to hear.

According to Datacentredynamics.com, experts from Gartner and Dell have revealed that companies in the area will be hosting more than half of their transactions in the cloud within the next four years.

Craig Slattery, Dell's director for enterprise platforms and solutions marketing for Asia Pacific and Japan, said the increasing flexibility of IT processes is attracting more enterprises.

"Virtualization is really the inflection point to drive new levels of efficiency," he pointed out.

"Efficiency in an organisation is highly flexible, has low capital expenditure and has been optimised by the IT manager."

Green IT will also be given more attention in the coming years, with data centre leaders in the region set to consider energy efficiency more.
