A new data centre, complete with server room monitoring systems, will be developed on a 60,000 sq ft site in Bracknell.
The 3.2-acre site was purchased by Hermes Real Estate Investment Management and GCE Data Centres for £2.5 million, reports DatacenterDynamics.
Gary Lees, managing director of the latter firm, commented: "We are excited to be working with Hermes on this project, that we will be launching formally in the very near future."
The building that is currently on the site will be demolished this month and planning permission has been granted for the development of the new facility to house data cabinets.
Facebook recently announced that it is working on a new data centre in Sweden that will be cooled using the low ambient temperature in Lulea.
According to the company, the firm will not have to power cooling systems using electricity for between eight and ten months of the year, while the heat extracted from the hardware will be used to warm the offices at the establishment.
