Network equipment specialist Melbourne is hoping to expand its client base with the opening of a new data centre.
The firm will soon launch its Manchester Technopark centre, which is a multi-million pound facility capable of hosting data from 1,000 new clients.
According to the company's founder Daniel Foster, the development will add an additional 3,000 servers and a plethora of server cabinets and cabling to the company's asset base.
He claimed that the investment represents "a real sign of our intent to become a major player in the server-hosting sector".
Melbourne is expecting to double its turnover in the next 12 months from £1 million to £2 million.
"January and February were our best months to date, Foster concluded.
Meanwhile, Google is set to spend 160 million (£149 million) on a data centre in Finland.
