International networking equipment manufacturer Kell Systems has unveiled a new small office environment server solution.
The new server cabinet looks almost identical to a conventional cupboard, but it is an air-cooled acoustic server cabinet enclosure.
According to Kell Systems, the Portable Server Environment (PSE) is designed to provide computer firms with an alternative to having a dedicated server room allowing the server racks and cabinets to be sited in an open-plan office.
Commenting on the noise levels of its server products, chief executive officer of the firm Tim Walsh said: "Technically we achieve 98.5 percent reduction of server noise."
He added that the noise from its PSE is the equivalent of the hum from a typical air conditioning unit.
Kell Systems specialises in Sound Proof Data Cabinets & Server Racks, which look like standard office furniture.
