Cisco to add new servers to its range - Intelligent Server Cabinet/Rack Solutions

Cisco to add new servers to its range - Intelligent Server Cabinet/Rack Solutions Cisco has announced it is adding two new servers to its data centre range, both of which can be mounted in a server rack.

The new devices will complement the network equipment manufacturers existing blade server products.

Cisco said the one and two unit servers are part of the company's Unified Computing System (UCS) strategy, which aims to provide customers with more choice and flexibility.

The C-Series servers will be available later this year and, like the B-Series blade products Cisco offers, will be powered by Intel Xeon 5500 processors.

Both devices have been optimised for the use of the firm's memory expansion and virtualisation technolgies which form an integral part of UCS.

A recent Goldman Sachs survey of leading IT experts from a range of Fortune 1000 companies showed that two-thirds of respondents expect an increased presence from Cisco in the data centre sector over the next few years.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19203457-ADNFCR
