IBM has changed its System X and BladeCentre server lines, offering buyers more customisation options.
The move follows declining sales in the server and server cabinet sector and looks to give customers a greater choice of processors, hard disc drives and solid state drives.
IBM's System X3755 server will be upgraded with three 2.7GHz Shanghai Opteron 8384 processors and 12GB of main memory.
The server rack mountable devices are scalable up to a maximum of 16 processor sockets.
IBM has also introduced Xcelerated Memory Technology, which allows memory in all eight DIMM sockets to run at a full 667MHz as opposed to the reduced speed of 533MHz.
Meanwhile, IBM has launched a new multi-vendor security suite, which the company claims offers users a range of new options without adding unnecessarily to the complexity of a system.
Proventia Endpoint Security Control focuses on four key areas; system protection, maintenance, data protection and configuration management.
