HP and Microsoft to release data consolidation widget - Data and Server Racks

HP and Microsoft to release data consolidation widget - Data and Server RacksHewlett Packard (HP) and Microsoft are nearly ready to release what is being described as the first out-of-box data consolidation widget.

This will be utilised by firms to help with the deployment of virtualised private cloud computing solutions without the need for changes to software, reports Sys.con Media.

The HP Enterprise Data base Consolidation Appliance for SQL Server is the transactional counterpart to the HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance, which the two companies unveiled earlier this year.

It will be available in November and the manufacturers have claimed it could reduce operating costs by as much as 75 per cent.

Companies may also be able to reduce the number of server racks and other pieces of hardware in their data centres, as well as keep the amount of floor space used to a minimum.

Earlier this month, Jeff Carlat, director of industry standard servers and software marketing at HP, told V3 that the organisation has been working with Microsoft to further integrate their technologies.
