Dell releases new rack cabinet solution - Data and Server Racks Dell has unveiled its latest server solution aimed at small businesses, helping them meet their diverse needs.

The PowerEdge R310 will be available in early April and is a one-socket 1U rack cabinet server.

It has Intel Xeon 3400 series processors, making it ideal for a variety of applications including Microsoft Windows Small Business Server, VMware and SharePoint.

Brad Anderson, senior vice president of Dell's Business Product Group, said: "With massive performance gains from greater memory and processing power in our updated servers and built-in reliability to minimise single points of failure, Dell is helping companies achieve better business results."

The new server was announced alongside the company's latest data centre solution, the new PowerEdge servers, which feature Intel Xeon 5600 series processors.

Fujitsu recently unveiled the Primergy CX1000, another server solution that could help data centres optimise their operating costs involved with power, heat and space.
