Employees are putting their data at risk by setting up their own wireless networks, according to a Wi-Fi management firm.
AirMagnet warned that a single worker could put a whole network at risk of hackers, website vnunet.com reports.
Ian Schenkel, EMEA managing director at AirMagnet, said: "We go into a lot of companies which say 'we haven't got any wireless access' and we do a demo and three or four access points pop up."
He said that while people do not do it maliciously, they just simply want to use Wi-Fi on their laptop.
Mr Schenkel added that companies are mistaken if they think that using the Wired Equivalent Privacy security algorithm protects them.
