Netgear is set to launch a 24TB network attached storage device aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
The ReadyNAS 3200, is a 2U server rack mountable network attached storage system with room for 12 hard drives.
It is capable of between 6TB and 12TB of storage, but that capacity will be doubled when a new range of 2TB drives are launched.
The new device is compatible with both Gigabit Ethernet and iSCSI.
Peter Airs, a storage product marketing manager at Netgear, said: "This is designed to be a flexible product. It's possible to use it as backup, but you can also use that capacity as hard disk space for running database applications, or virtual machines."
He added that the hot-swappable drives make the rack mountable network attached storage device easily expandable.
Meanwhile, Corning recently introduced a new range of cabling specifically for data storage facilities, which it claims can reduce the amount of space needed to house leads by half.
