Cisco has introduced its new network platform for Data Center 3.0 and expanded the Cisco Catalyst Family, according to reports.
It is hoped that the new infrastructure will help customers design and build data centre architectures which meet the requirements of the next-generation data centre.
Jayshree Ullal, senior vice president of Cisco's Data Centre, Switching and Services Group, told enterprisenetworksandservers.com: "With its Data Center 3.0 vision, Cisco is transforming the data centre into a virtualised environment that revolutionises how organisations adopt new IT strategies and respond quickly to changing business needs."
She added that the Cisco Nexus 7000 Series has come about as a result of "significant and pioneering internal innovation".
Ms Ullal said that when combined with the ten-Gigabit Ethernet portfolio offered by the Catalyst 6500 Series, "Cisco provides customers with a smooth migration into a new era of data centre networking".
