Schroff UK has introduced a low cost modular solution for retrofitting cold aisles into data centres.
The company says that extrusions can be fitted across the top of tall rack cabinets along an aisle, secured to the them with infinitely adjustable brackets.
After infill prices and a laminated glass roof is fitted, automatic or manual sliding doors can then be installed at each end of the aisle.
Cold aisles can help IT professionals by reducing energy consumption and improving performance while this solution can also be used to create a hot aisle.
Furthermore, the new sliding doors can be fitted with automatic movement detection sensors, digital keypad locks, card readers and remote control operation, meaning extra security measures are in place.
A networking expert recently said that cooling issues were among the most important challenges facing data centre managers.
He added that, whereas before the priority was to increase power, it is now shifting towards an emphasis on consumption reduction.
