Cloud computing 'is here to stay' - Data & Server Racks

Cloud computing 'is here to stay' - Data & Server RacksThe increasing penetration of cloud computing services looks set to create further demand for data cabinets and server racks.

According to Paul Campaniello, vice president of global marketing for ScaleBase, the service delivery model is very much here to stay.

He claimed that businesses and organisations are saving significant sums of money by using hosted services - and this is good news for companies working in the data centre industry.

Mr Campaniello commented: "Cloud computing is very, very real and in my opinion, it's real because it radically changes the ability of organisations of all sizes and growth rates to address fundamental IT concerns."

He explained that businesses can upgrade their IT without having to increase operating or capital expenditure - and this is a major draw.

"The cloud doesn't do this because of its real-world economics - it gives companies the ability to be elastic - to shrink and grow as their business demands it," Mr Campaniello claimed.

KPMG reported recently that 76 per cent of firms are either using cloud computing already or plan to embrace the model in the next 12 months.
