Telecom operator TeliaSonera has deployed Edgeware's Orbit 2x server system to deliver on-demand TV and video service to its IPTV subscriber base in Sweden, it has been revealed.
The server architecture will allow the Nordic operator to integrate on-demand capabilities into its already-existing network.
It will also deliver new services to the company's 300,000 subscribers in record time.
Based on Edgeware's Orbit 2x video server appliance, the TeliaSonera installation has both central and edge servers.
Janne Yli-Ayho, senior vice president and head of TeliaSonera's TV, content and digital home commitments, said: "TeliaSonera views TV as one of the services that will drive the migration from fixed telephony to IP and open up for future revenues.
"Consumers require on-demand services in various forms and that is what we are
delivering. Our IPTV initiative is vital for the future of TeliaSonera."
