Digital Realty Trust, the world's largest date centre provider, has struck a deal with Tata Communications.
Tata Communications is the data arm of global telecoms giant Tata Group, which is worth an estimated $62.5 billion.
As a result of the agreement, Tata Communications will establish a bespoke data centre, complete with server racks, server cabinets and structured cabling, at a UK facility owned by the Digital Realty Trust.
"We are pleased that Tata Communications has chosen to work with [us] on the establishment of this new datacenter," said Bernard Geoghegan, senior vice-president at Digital Realty Trust.
He added that the deal confirms that the company's international network equipment operations offer good value and the potential for expansion to customers.
According to recent research by Solarflare Communications, there will be a huge shift towards investment in 10Gbit Ethernet technology in 2009.
The company's chief technical officers George Zimmerman and Steve Pope said 10Gbit Ethernet is set to become mainstream.
