Super Micro unveils double-sided storage chassis units - Data and Server Racks

Super Micro Computer Inc has unveiled the world's first line of double-sided storage chassis units, designed to offer users higher density storage capabilities.

Showcasing the new technology at the Storage Visions 2010 conference in Las Vegas, the US firm has revealed that its SC847 series boasts a Platinum Level redundant power supply, allowing for efficiency levels in excess of 94 per cent.

The double-storage units come equipped with 36 3.5-inch hard drives, while they are also capable of supporting up to seven low-profile add-on cards at a time.

Announcing the launch, Charles Liang, chief executive and president of Super Micro, explained: "Adding these double-sided, high-capacity storage chassis to our storage portfolio provides our customers with direct hot-swap access to all of the storage drives while saving valuable rack space."

He added that, in addition to saving companies money on their server upkeep, the energy savings allowed for by the new range of storage solutions also help preserve the environment.

Founded in 1993, Super Micro now has a workforce in excess of 800 and has customers in 76 countries.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19543055-ADNFCR
