AMD has announced it has developed new processors for web-serving environments.
The firm's new members of its Six-Core AMD Opteron processor family are shipping for two, four and eight-P systems and are designed to cope with needs of "hungry and power constrained data centres" - which suggests they could be integrated into server cabinets & server racks.
Patrick Patla, vice-president and general manager of server business for AMD, said the new devices deliver "no-compromise performance".
He added: "These new lower power Six-Core AMD Opteron processors feature the highest performance-per-watt that we have brought to market, and help drive down power consumption while addressing the shifting cloud and Web landscape of today's data centre."
The firm is planning to develop processors with a greater level of energy efficiency later this year, he stated.
Suyin Corporation recently launched a new range of cabling jacks which featured in-built LED technology.
