Research in Motion (RIM) could be bringing in new server racks to India if the country's government gets its way.
Indian politicians have asked the BlackBerry maker to install a server in the country or end its messenger services.
The two sides have been involved in an ongoing debate over the tracking of BlackBerry messenger and email services.
Since servers are located in Canada, the Indian government is unable to monitor communications in its nation.
To address security concerns, RIM offered to provide certain information on a case-by-case basis as required, but this proposal has been rejected.
Instead, ministers want RIM to install servers in India that would allow security agencies to access the information freely.
The Indian government has set an August 31st deadline for the resolution of the dispute, before it pulls the plug on BlackBerry services.
Meanwhile, RIM has launched a new version of the BlackBerry smartphone known as the Torch.
