The Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) server market was flat during the third quarter of 2011, it has been reported.
Research conducted by IDC revealed that 546,883 units were shipped between July and September, creating demand for server accessories.
This was up 0.6 per cent on the equivalent period in 2010 as revenues topped £2 billion, but represented a one per cent fall on Q2 2011.
The UK market fared slightly better with growth of 2.1 per cent - up on both France and Germany - suggesting there was continuing demand for data cabinets.
Beatriz Valle, senior research analyst in the Enterprise Server Group for IDC EMEA, said the server market is displaying signs of deceleration as macroeconomic conditions worsen worldwide.
She stated: "Although it is early to assess the full impact the eurozone crisis will have in the Western European server market, strict fiscal policies and a slackening of private demand have already had a significant dampening effect on sales of systems."
In a recent report, analyst firm Gartner claimed that IT managers are beginning to view the data centre more holistically, taking a more strategic approach to technology procurement and deployment.
