Firm unveils new cooling system plug fan - Server Room Monitoring

Firm unveils new cooling system plug fan - Server Room Monitoring Businesses interested in server room monitoring may be interested to hear about an updated plug fan which can be used in cooling systems.

Two data centre cooling systems are now able to use the electrically commutated (EC) plug fans for automatic cooling capacity changes, ChannelProSMB.com reports.

Emerson Network Power has extended the plug fans to the Liebert CW and Liebert DS models, which the manufacturer claims will enable data centres to "automatically adjust cooling unit capacities to match the IT server demands and improve energy savings and power usage effectiveness".

"Independent tests of the energy efficiency of different types of fan systems found that in raised-floor data centres, the EC plug fan offers the lowest annual operating cost," Fred Stack, vice president of marketing for Emerson Network Power's Liebert precision cooling business, told the news source.

EC plug fans can be deployed below a raised floor rather than remaining inside the cooling unit and boast a backward-curved motorised impeller driven by a direct line DC motor with integrated AC-DC conversion, the news provider states.
