HP and Microsoft team for server development project - Data and Server Racks

HP and Microsoft team for server development project - Data and Server RacksHP and Microsoft are to team up for a project aimed at simplifying servers and cloud computing issues for businesses.

Under the new agreement, the two technology giants will spend $250 million on the development of new hardware and software geared towards allowing for improved access to data center servers over the internet.

It is hoped that the three-year project will ultimately make it easier for businesses of all sizes to switch to adopting cloud computing services and to access remote data stacks through the use of software management tools, among other applications.

Commenting on the development, Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer stated that this is the "deepest level of collaboration and integration of technology work we have done that I am aware of".

"This is breakthrough stuff for us, and it's a different thing than you've seen from the two of us before," he added, according to Forbes.

However, full details of the server development project have yet to be released by either company.

This comes soon after Fujitsu and Sun unveiled the fruits of their collaboration, a new pair of high-speed servers.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19562181-ADNFCR
