Zenprise boosts mobile management comms tool - Networking Industry NewsZenprise has announced that it is to add smartphones running on the Android operating system to the range of devices its MobileManager software tool can monitor.

Citing the growing popularity of the Android platform among business users, the company has confirmed that it will extend the capabilities of MobileManager beyond the range of mobile communications devices it can currently manage.

These include the Blackberry and the iPhone, as well as Palm smartphones and devices running on Windows Mobile.

Speaking to Computer World, Zenprise's vice president of marketing Ahmed Datoo explained that this move will enable business users making use of Android to benefit from a number of advantages.

Most notably, the software tool significantly reduces the amount of time an IT manager has to devote to fixing an email outage, with this likely to be particularly beneficial to businesses with dozens, or even hundreds, of employees using smartphones.

Furthermore, the tool will also allow IT managers to keep on top of smartphone usage and identify where costs can be cut.

This networking news comes just days after Dell announced plans to expand its 10Gbps Ethernet range of products.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19524437-ADNFCR
