Two cabling giants in merger talks - Networking Industry News

Two cabling giants in merger talks - Networking Industry News Network equipment manufacturers Draka and Prysmian are in merger talks that could see both companies adopting the latter's branding.

A spokesperson from Draka shed light on the discussions, saying that speculation and rumours could be damaging for the firms.

The two companies have discussed a share for share cross-border merger which would leave Prysmian as the "surviving entity".

According to the spokesperson from Draka, the talks appear to be progressing well, with "any such combination" being in the interest of stakeholders and shareholders in the two firms.

However, both companies stated: "At this stage there is no assurance that a transaction of any kind will take place."

Meanwhile, Draka recently unveiled a new range of next-generation cabling, which it hopes will encourage firms to adopt fibre optic leads and cables in the networking infrastructure.

The UC-Future products allow data centre operators to increase cable density by 100 per cent, as well as allowing for transmission over distances of up to 60m.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19243318-ADNFCR
