Streamlining data centres may cause problems - Networking Industry News

Streamlining data centres may cause problems - Networking Industry News Streamlining data centres and reducing the amount of money invested in them may cause problems in the future, it has been claimed.

According to Carla Arend, programme manager of European infrastructure software at IT industry analyst IDC, there is a danger that squeezing the amount of cash available to data centres during the current economic climate could be damaging for businesses in the long-term and is short sighted.

If they continue to do that throughout the year then at some point it will negatively impact their ability to do business because they will put their infrastructure at risk or their data at risk," she added.

She concluded that increasing data storage efficiency and packing more into existing server rack space was not a traditional way of cutting costs.

According to new research by IDC, Asia is experiencing a huge growth in the Information and Data Management Software market – and is now worth $2 trillion (£1.3 trillion).ADNFCR-1186-ID-19221418-ADNFCR
