New data centre for Bristol NHS - Networking Industry News A new data centre for the North Bristol NHS trust has been completed at a cost of £5 million.

The development, which has included the relocation of existing networking equipment – such as switches and server cabinets – was completed with the help of NextiraOne.

Staff are expected to migrate to the new centre this summer when full services resume.

Steven Skakel, managing director of UK and Ireland operations at NextiraOne, said: "The building of a dedicated data centre will take the trust to the forefront of ICT provision within the healthcare sector in the UK."

According to the NHS trust the new data centre uses the latest energy-efficient technology, such as environmentally-friendly lighting and a cutting edge cooling system, which is expected to reduce energy consumption by between 40 and 70 per cent.

Oil and gas exploration company Petroleum Geo Services recently introduced a new cooling system at its primary data centre, which it claims has cut energy usage by 45 per cent.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19221428-ADNFCR
