New £7 million data centre for Aberdeen - Networking Industry News Aberdeen will be the home of a new £7 million data centre that is expected to create ten jobs in the region.

Internet for Business (IFB) operations director Graeme Gordon said that the data centre would set new design standards for such facilities in the UK.

The development, which will house a large number of server racks and server cabinets, is set to open in the first half of next year.

The plans were unveiled at a major conference in Las Vegas and were described by Scottish Enterprise a global in outlook, reports the BBC.

Maggie McGinlay, regional director for Scottish Enterprise, told the news provider: "Scotland has a leading edge in many digital technologies and IFB's investment in what will be a unique centre to Scotland shows the company's great leadership and innovation."

"The IFB data centre will attract clients from across the world to Scotland," she added.
