A new network which can offer broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps has been demonstrated in Bournemouth.
Fibrecity has been showcasing its new fibre-optic network in the city which is due for completion in 2011, reports Computer Shopper.
The firm is making the new network "open access", which means other service or broadband providers can use the technology to promote and sell their own products.
Elfed Thomas, chief executive officer of the i3 Group, the parent company to Fibrecity, told the news provider the firm always had the intentions of making the network "a true open access model".
He added: "We have engaged with the market and our customers and are confident that this unique approach will deliver the very best fibre to the home experience throughout the world."
Kevin Lavery, chief executive of Cornwall Council, recently told Business Cornwall how plans were being developed for a new next generation broadband network to be implemented throughout the county.
