Network equipment manufacturer Netgear has launched its award-winning Home Theatre Internet Connection Kit.
The new powerline networking solution – which is aimed at movie buffs who watch TV on their computers – uses an integrated 4-port switch that the company claims combines ease-of-use and energy-saving features.
Netgear claims that the "no new wires" powerline technology enables users to transfer large files at high speed on their existing structured cabling.
And the company notes that its new home theatre networking device has a Quality of Service feature which enables it to supply more bandwidth to high priority applications.
"Powerline has become more and more popular because of the growth of networked devices in the living room, and the high speeds and reliability that they require," said Chris Geiser, Netgear's product line manager for in-home distribution and consumer products.
Recently a new range of Netgear switches was launched by the firm, which are aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
