A pledge to use eco-friendly products in an effort to minimise the effects of e-waste dumping has been made by a technology company.
Netgear has said that it will take steps to improve the health and safety of its employees, as well as using recyclable components in future manufacturing.
The firm says it already offers a number of products which promote green energy usage including unmanaged desktop gigabit and smart gigabit switches
Customers can also buy Netgear's external power adapters which convert household electricity into low-voltage energy.
The announcement follows news that the global volume of E-waste is expected to reach 73 million tons by 2015, according to the Electronics Recycling and E-waste Issues report.
Last month saw the company named as a worldwide leader for small and medium-sized business storage by technology researchers Gartner.
Netgear was also ranked in the top six vendors in the overall business network-attached storage market.
