Isilon introduces new data storage devices - Networking Industry News Isilon Systems has introduced two new data storage products which the company claims can cut power consumption.

The firm said that its new IQ 7200X and 72NL devices maximise efficiency and can help data centre operators cut their power use by as much as 50 per cent.

Sam Grocott, senior director of product management at Isilon, said: "'Do more with less' is standard operating procedure in today's enterprise data centre where cost and energy efficiency are paramount to maximising operating leverage."

Isilon has recently showcased its S-Series product line at Supercomputing 2009, which can deliver up to 45Gbps of aggregate throughput from a single-file system.

"With the accelerating adoption of virtualisation and ascendance of cloud computing, it's critical that organisations deploy the best storage architecture for these environments to ensure long-term IT efficiency," said the firm's Nick Kirsch.

He added that while data management remains a complex issue Isilon's scale-out network attached storage removes the traditional bottlenecks.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19469605-ADNFCR
