Integrated Device Technology announces IDT 82V3910 - Data and Server Racks

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has announced the IDT 82V3910, which is the globe’s lowest jitter synchronous Ethernet-compliant timing solution.

It is the first carrier-class SyncE-compliant phase-locked loop (LLP) tool that can reach the toughest 10G or 40G Ethernet PHY jitter requirements.

Recording a phase jitter below 300 femtoseconds RMs over the 10 kHz to 20 MHz integration range, the device provides 50 per cent less jitter than rivals in the market and substitutes multichip alternatives in order to decrease complications and cost.

The architecture boasts two independent digital PLLs (DPLLs), allowing bidirectional synchronisation for utility at the highest level as well as easier deployment among network supplies.

Furthermore, the DPLLs lock to range of telecom and Ethernet reference frequencies, suppressing incoming timing faults in order to generate highly-reliable output clocks for optimal network performance.

Christian Kermarrec, vice president and general manager of the Timing and Synchronization Division at IDT, said: “Our latest SyncE network timing devices combine IDT's industry-leading digital and analog PLL technologies to achieve the first integrated synchronisation solution addressing the large and fast-growing market for 10G and 40G applications.

“With jitter less than half that of competing products, the new clocking solutions offer our customers the ultimate in performance and versatility by supporting the most stringent low-jitter requirements found in 10G or 40G Ethernet applications. 

“These devices complement IDT's rich timing portfolio, including RF and network PLLs, VCXOs, synthesizers, buffers, frequency translators and crystal oscillator replacement products.”

The IDT 82V3910 also simplifies the timing circuit and bill of materials by supplying a synchronous equipment timing source function, managing all of the necessary synchronisation timing signals.

Furthermore, ultra-low jitter generation means that the 82V3910 is suitable for single-board systems, which is where SETs directly times 10G or 40G network PHYs.
