Fujitsu introduces global green IT initiative - Networking Industry News Fujitsu is planning to reduce is carbon emissions by more than 15 million tonnes with a new green IT initiative.

The Green Policy Innovation will set the company's global environmental policy for the next four years – until 2012.

According to Fujitsu, the move, which is part of the firm's wider-ranging Green Policy 2020, will help customers and society as a whole reduce their carbon footprint.

Energy efficient IT equipment and data storage facilities will be at the centre of Fujitsu latest green initiative.

The Green Policy Innovation was first introduced in 2007 in Japan, with the aim of reducing the nation's carbon dioxide emissions by more than seven million tonnes between 2007 and 2010.

Last week, Google applied for a patent for a new server rack cooling technology which targets specific network equipment components with cool air via a system of directional pipes.

According to industry publication Data Center Knowledge, the firm is looking to create server cabinets that will reduce its carbon footprint.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19498939-ADNFCR
