The first British dedicated server and managed hosting solution provider has joined the European Union's (EU) Code of Conduct on Data Centre Efficiency.
Memset, which is the UK's first carbon-neutral internet service provider, claims that firms have been slow to accept the new guidelines.
Kate Craig-Wood, managing director of Memset said: "The code provides businesses with a sensible, practical and easily applicable set of best practices to improve efficiencies, minimizing the environmental impact of data centre operations as well as having beneficial effect on the bottom line."
However, she added that too few organisations in the UK had signed up to the new code of conduct despite the fact they could save money if they did so.
This month, DataCentreDynamics will host an industry conference in London to discuss the impact of the Carbon Reduction Commitment on the sector as a whole.
There will be a number of guest speakers at the event, which is being held between November 10th and 11th.
