A former Army member is looking to boost the number of trained fibre optic cabling engineers working in the North East by launching a new company.
According to nebusiness, Darren Bainbridge spent 22 years in active service, where he picked up a vast number of skills that could prove valuable in the digital technology sector.
These include the laying of LAN cables and he has established the Advanced Communications Training company to help bridge the IT skills gap in the location.
The company will provide training in advanced cable installation, with the hope of branching deeper into the IT electrical field in the near future.
Mr Bainbridge told the news provider: "Our courses, which combine theory with hands-on practical experience, will equip local people with the skills, expertise and confidence to take that first step on the road to becoming a highly-qualified engineer.
"They can go on to pursue a career in any number of jobs within the IT, electrical engineering or cable installation industries."
Among the benefits of using fibre optic cabling over other types are its increased reliability in data transmission and the fact that is less likely to suffer interference.
