Extreme Networks' summit x650 switch has been voted the best data centre product of the year at the Network Computing Awards in London.
The company has also picked up the Infrastructure Product of the Year accolade at the major industry awards ceremony held at London's Guoman Tower Hotel.
Comprising of 24 categories, the 2009 Network Computing Awards attempts to reflect the wide range of applications networking has on modern society.
"Winning these awards is a great honour and demonstrates our leadership in the field of data centre networking and infrastructure," said Extreme Networks Middle East & Africa Regional Director, Aziz Ala Ali.
He added that during the current economic downturn users are looking for equipment that offers advanced convergence and resiliency features without compromising speed and efficiency.
More than 60 networking firms were present at the awards ceremony including IBM, Cisco, Brand-Rex and Aruba.
The award ceremony was presented by comedian Stephen Grant.
