Network equipment manufacturer Extreme Networks has published a blueprint which outlines how businesses can migrate their IT operations to the cloud.
The company unveiled the network virtualisation guidelines at the Gartner Data Centre Conference.
According to sfgate.com, the company's migration strategy is very different to the proposals outlined by the firm's rival Cisco, which is based around its Unified Computing System.
Extreme Network's plan is built around four pillars of data centre construction; physicality, efficiency, scalability and automation/customisation.
The company plans to address data centre virtualisation issues with a number of products, including its Summit X450 and X650 server rack mountable digital switches, which are Ethernet capable, the news provider states.
Gordon Stitt, Extreme Network's chairman and co-founder, said he wanted his company to be at the forefront of virtualisation development without forcing a specific infrastructure on its customers.
Recently, research from Gartner showed that server cabinet efficiency should remain a top priority for data centre operators.
