Ericsson to supply network to Brazil

Ericsson to supply network to BrazilEricsson will supply a WCDMA/HSPA network to TIM Brasil – Brazil's largest GSM operator, it has been announced.

The work will enable high-speed mobile broadband to be rolled out in eight states across the South American country.

Ericsson will supply a 2G/3G common core network and also a radio access network in Acre, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sol, Distrito Fedreal, Sao Paulo and Tocantins.

It will also provide network and technology consulting, network deployment, network design and systems integration of end user service platforms and applications.

Mario Cesar Pereira de Araujo, president of TIM Brasil, said: "This deal reflects our strong partnership with Ericsson and will allow us to offer our customers an enhanced communications experience while paving the way for the introduction of advanced mobile broadband services."

It is hoped that the HSPA solution will boost network capacity and enable TIM Brasil to bring in new revenue streams.
