Ericsson Selected For C&W Network Upgrade

Ericsson selected for C&W network upgrade Ericsson has been selected to upgrade and expand Cable & Wireless Jamaica's network, it has been announced.

The three-year agreement will see the company work as the Systems Integrator and change Cable & Wireless' core network into a next-generation IP one.

It will deploy Ericsson Mobile Softswitch, Ericsson Multi Mediation platform and Mobile Packet Backbone Network solutions.

The deal will also see the company give Cable & Wireless the means to launch a range of new and innovative next-generation multimedia services.

Niklas Heuveldop, president of Ericsson Central America and Caribbean, says: "We are proud to extend our partnership with Cable & Wireless in the dynamic Caribbean market.

"This partnership will help them to reduce its core-network operating expenses and it represents the first step towards an efficient and converged all-IP core network."
