Expansion in the data centre sector is continuing despite the ongoing global economic downturn, it has been claimed.
According to CommScope, structured cabling and cutting-edge network equipment is becoming mission critical for many modern businesses and staying abreast of the latest developments is essential if firms are to remain competitive.
In the firm's Global Data Centre Survey, almost a third of organisations said they were either planning for, or constructing a new data centre, while more than four out of five said they were continuing to set aside IT spend for their existing data centre infrastructure.
"Whether it is to stay ahead of technology developments and new applications, or to address cost-efficient opportunities, data centre expansions and improvement are continuing around the world, despite the economic downturn," the organisation said.
According to other research carried out by CommScope, the majority of data centre operators are still being driven by performance indicators.
