CSR's UniFi silicon is to provide Wi-Fi functionality in the new WLAN-Ethernet Combo Module from WhizNets.
The Whiz-WLAN-ETH Combo Module offers a number of wired connectivity features, including SPI, UART, CAN and USB.
It also comes with a complete WLAN solution with a high performance 802.11b/g Wi-Fi silicon which is being provided by CSR.
The module also provides an IP network processor and media access controller.
Jack Tuite, vice president of sales and marketing, said: "We wanted to offer a combination communications interface that offered more than the competition.
"With the increasing use of wireless technologies for monitoring and control of industrial devices, we decided early on that integrating Wi-Fi would be a good idea."
He said the company was aware of CSR's ability to offer reliable embedded wireless technologies.
Mr Tuite added: "CSR's UniFi therefore offered the ideal combination of small size and powerful features for our needs, and was a simple way to introduce a real value-add feature."
