Council to push forward in IT - Networking Industry NewsHarrogate Borough Council is to benefit from a complete overhaul of its IT facilities as it looks to take the required steps into the 21st Century, the Yorkshire Post reports.

According to the publication, some £2 million is to be spent on the revamp, with the council believing that in a few years time, their current equipment will not be fit for purpose.

Acting council leader Richard Cooper told the news provider: "We knew we had to do some serious work on the IT facilities because they are getting quite out of date.

"Over the next few years the computers we are using now are not going to be able to do what we need them to do."

He added that the plans continue a huge efficiency drive currently taking place, with many of the developments to have currently taking place focusing on IT.

A previous review noted that the computers were slow and unreliable, with the new network equipment hoped to make the council extra efficient.

Among the areas covered by Harrogate Borough Council are Ripon and Knaresborough.
