Cisco finds partners for cloud security - Networking Industry News

Cisco finds partners for cloud security - Networking Industry NewsCisco Systems has partnered with other networking companies to establish an architecture that will ensure security as data centres become virtualised.

With many organisations now seeking to shift some of their networking facilities to the cloud, infrastructure is being gathered in large data centres, raising security risks.

However, Cisco has partnered with VMware and NetApp to establish the Secure Multitenancy Design Architecture , which isolates data from different clients within a data centre while still delivering the expected service.

Tony Bates, a senior vice president at Cisco, said: "Our joint vision with NetApp and VMware centres on delivering a unified architecture for customers to design and build a complete, virtualised data centre that will streamline operations and improve their business resilience."

The government recently announced that it is planning to move towards the cloud for networking across departments and public services, with around a dozen large data centres replacing the hundreds currently used.

Like many businesses, the government expects to save money by doing this, reducing the environmental impact at the same time.
